Bluerydge Supports Soldier On’s Skills Academy Program

Inspiring the Next Generation of Cyber Professionals

Bluerydge is committed to mentoring and guiding the next generation of cybersecurity talent. As part of this mission, Bluerydge Director and CEO Jim Boekel recently participated in Soldier On Australia and IBM’s Skills Academy Program, delivering an insightful cybersecurity presentation to high school students at the IBM Offices.

The interactive session introduced students to cybersecurity fundamentals, explored various career paths within the field, and provided valuable advice on how to start a career in cybersecurity.

Building Awareness of Cybersecurity Careers

With cyber threats growing in complexity, the need for skilled professionals has never been greater. Many students are interested in technology but are unaware of the diverse career opportunities in cybersecurity.

During his presentation, Jim Boekel covered key topics such as:

  • The fundamentals of cybersecurity – Understanding threats, risks, and security measures.
  • Career pathways in cyber – Roles ranging from ethical hacking to security analysis and risk management.
  • Essential skills for success – The technical and problem-solving abilities needed in cybersecurity careers.
  • Education and certification pathways – How students can enter and excel in the cybersecurity industry.

Jim also shared his own journey in cybersecurity, giving students a real-world perspective on the industry’s growth and importance.

“Cybersecurity is an exciting field with endless opportunities. The key is to start learning, stay curious, and develop both technical and analytical skills,” Jim told students.
